Garbage and Recycling
Residents and businesses located within the Cities
and County of Solano are subject to mandatory garbage
and recycling services, as determined by municipal or county ordinance. Each Solano County
city and its neighboring unincorporated area contracts independently with a
private service provider to collect garbage, recyclables and/or yard waste
material. Residents and businesses may self-haul to any licensed disposal,
recycling, or composting site at anytime but are prohibited from directly
hiring a person or business from providing the same services that the
contracted garbage and recycling service provider provides.
Accumulating some trash is inevitable. Luckily, much of our trash is recyclable. Most trash haulers accept aluminum/tin/steel cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic containers with necks, newspaper, mixed paper and cardboard. For specific information on what can be recycled in your area, contact the number on your trash hauler bill.
